As a tour participant, you will visit the jewels of Italian heritage including Pietrelcina where you will be visiting the house where Padre Pio was born, the Church where he celebrated the first mass, and his farm home at Piana Romana where he received the first sign of Jesus Christ’s passion – the “invisible stigmata.”
You will enter the Church of Padre Pio where you may pray in front of his uncorrupted body, and you will tour the hospital “Home for the Relief of Suffering,” which was founded by Padre Pio in 1956. Then you will visit the city of Polignano a Mare, known all over the world as the town where singer and composer Domenico Modugno (“Mr. Volare”) was born; the city of Bari and the Basilica of Saint Nicholas where part of the body of Saint Nicholas is buried; the city of Alberobello, an UNESCO World Heritage Site and famous for its Trulli, the traditional Apulian dry stone huts with conical roofs; and much, much more.
All of these sites are only part of the attractions that you will visit, discovering the mystical and hidden parts of the region that are not included in typical Italian tours.
Each year the Saint Pio Foundation organizes two trips, which include the sites mentioned above and many others. Request more information about our upcoming trips, and let us be your guide as you walk in Padre Pio’s own footsteps and discover the beautiful region of Puglia.
Customized tours are also available upon request for groups having a minimum of ten participants.
