Parochial Vicar, Holy Cross - St. John the Baptist Church
Michael Joseph Marigliano is a Capuchin Franciscan friar of the Province of St. Mary. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Michael professed first vows as a Capuchin friar in 1978, final vows in 1982 and was ordained to the priesthood in 1984. He holds a Master of Divinity from Maryknoll School of Theology and a Ph. D. in Religious Studies from Marquette University.
Michael began his priestly ministry at Sacred Heart parish in Yonkers, NY. He has also served the province as Provincial Vocation Director, promoting our Capuchin way of life to potential candidates; Provincial Director of Formation and Novice Director where he oversaw the development of formation policy for young friars preparing for final vows and public ministry; Director of SMP Communications – the official provincial communications office; Provincial Vicar of the Province of St. Mary; and as a Traveling Preacher, offering workshops on various theological topics to parishes and religious communities, as well as preaching parish missions, days of recollection and retreats for religious communities.
Michael is excited to be a part of the pastoral staff of St. John the Baptist—Holy Cross with its mission of witness to Christ in the City. Franciscan concern regarding questions of minority, the plight of the poor, the integrity of creation, the promotion of brotherly/sisterly life among disciples living the gospel in the heart of the world and the quest for justice and peace continue to enliven his ministry and his theological quest.
