John Pugliese is a global, strategic CEO and Board Director who delivers impact for billion-dollar businesses through financial excellence, innovation, operations and executive leadership across private and public financial services and automotive industries – including The Bank of New York Mellon (NYSE: BK), The Provident Bank (NYSE: PFS) and Team Capital Bank. He is continuously selected to lead and advise businesses to turn around, build and transform multi-industry organizations.
John serves as a Board Director for The Provident Bank (NYSE: PFS), a $14B+ in assets holding company for Provident Bank, serving as Chairman of the Technology Committee, Compensation and Governance Committees and is a former member of the Audit Committee. He previously served as Chairman of the Board at Team Capital Bank, until The Provident Bank merger. He advises boards on succession planning, acquisition strategy, financial services strategy, retail banking strategy and executive compensation. John was CEO of Sansone Auto Mall, a collection of seven reputable dealerships in NY Metro Mall, where he where he nearly doubled revenue from $180M to $350M by turning around a dealership collection built over 60 years to an award-winning mature business with new growth strategy, policies and processes for all functions and a centralized BDC.
Previously, John led various roles at The Bank of New York Mellon (NYSE: BK), a leading BNY’ s Consumer Bank, having $1B in revenue with 340+ branches and 3,000+ employees. He increased revenue $400M to $650M, and increased fee revenue 12% annually by re-pricing initiatives and new deposit and loan products.
John also drove $160M in profit, representing 14% of the bank income. Additionally, he reorganized the branch system and increased sales 15% annually. John brings end-to-end M&A expertise, having completed 20 transactions including BNY's swap of its consumer banking business for JPMorgan Chase’s corporate trust business – a $3.1B transaction.
John was also integrally involved in the transaction in selling Team Capital Bank, as Chairman of Board for Capital, and now serves as Board Director of Provident Bank. When he is away from the office, John enjoys playing golf, tennis and is a worldwide traveler who enjoys collecting wine.
